Off to the CK convention

I'm on my way to volunteer at the convention. Last year when Paige and I attended we both came home with a pazzle. This year I'm volunteering to keep those purchases in check. I might take a class or two tomorrow if the ones I want to take are still open. I'll have my camera and will post some of the great products and people that I meet.
I just baked a couple batches of Almond Butter Cookies-I was on my 3rd batch when I realized that they are a vegan recipe. Here's a link to the site where I copied it www.lovelikeavegan.wordpress.com :
I thought I'd share-these cookies are soft and melt in your mouth delicious!

1 C all-purpose flour
1tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 TBS sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 C almond butter
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
3 TBS canola oil
1-Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease a cookie sheet
2-Sift flour, baking powder and baking soda. Stir in sugar and salt.
3-In a separate bowl, combine the almond butter with the maple syrup and extracts. Stir in the oil.
4-Add the dry mix to the wet mix until combined
5-Place tablespoon-fulls of dough on cookie sheets. Bake for 7-8 minutes until golden brown.
Cool on racks

I didn't use the vanilla and increased the almond extract to 1 tsp. This gives a really strong almond flavor (which we all love!) and I omit the salt. The almond butter I use is salt free. I know some has salt in it but I get the big jar at Costco.
Oh, this is the first time that I made them actually sifting the flour and I think it really made a difference. But, it could just be me.

Camping Explosion Box

Here is my box that I created at the beginning(ish) of summer. I thought we'd fill it with this years camping pictures but, we did no camping. Not that we didn't try, it's just really hard to pull a camper that has no tires. ~long story~

I may not have any pictures but the box is really cute!

Fall Fun

We are having such a beautiful fall here in the Seattle area. So far the weather has been great with not a lot of rain. What rain we have has fallen all at once so we've had alternate rain and no rain days. Not a lot to complain about (yet!).

This year Robby got to carve his own pumpkin. Putting a pumpkin kit carving knife in his hand was pretty scary but he really did a good job carving ALL our pumpkins. We exhausted all the "easy" but scary templates on the web but still had more pumpkins to carve. We decided on a ghost but, of course, my freehand ghost was not good enough. So, off to the pazzle. I cut out the ghost that came with the Holidays CD and our last pumpkin became a carved piece of art. Have I mentioned how much I love this machine????

My sis sent me some pictures of my too-cute nieces and this one was just screaming to become scrapped. So, I did.

Quick Calendar

Here's a quick calendar that I did yesterday. It uses bits and pieces from just about every scrapbook company out there (and then some). Fall is my favorite season so I have SO much fall themed items. I'll journal on it and use it to help with my fall pages.

Monday, October 5, 2009

I really wanted to do some major pazzle playing this weekend but things never work out like they should. I went to bed on Thursday night and woke up Sunday for dinner. Really, I don't know what I had but a good 4 day nap and I'm feeling much better.

I wanted to do something for my neice in Texas-Olivia-for Halloween. I have to assume that my sister isn't into letting her have a ton of candy so I found myself at Target in the $ section and picked up stickers. Then I put my pazzle to use and drew her her very own coloring book. Not bad for a first attempt and it opens the door to so many possibilities. Now, Peyton needs something fun.

Enjoy!

New Layouts

Wow, I can't believe it's been over a month since I posted last. We've had quite a few hectic last couple of weeks with Ryan catching swine flu. Andrew got a mild case but other than that the rest of us stayed healthy. Honestly, it was a little scary as I didn't really know what to expect and the sore throat and cough lingered on forever. It was the sickest I've seen my child in a really long time.

Fall is officially here! And with the record heat we've had lately I'm actually ready for it. The trees are trying really hard to change color but with temps over 80 it's been a little rough for them. Alas, my birch is turning yellow!!

On to scrapbooking-I've been playing with the pazzle and having a total blast with the pen tool. It doesn't fit my CTMH pen collection but with a little tweek here and there I did get it to work. Here are some layouts I did. I'm working on a few cards that I should have posted tomorrow.
